We'll be home, just the 3 of us. I'm not a football fan but I'll likely watch at least some of the game for the commercials, though that isn't nearly as big a deal as it used to be since you can just get them all online. That has really taken the fun out of it. And a lot of them are released before the game anyway. They don't premier during the game like they used to.
No special food plans.

I honestly don't pay attention at all to sports... I'm actually going to most likely have to go into work Sunday afternoon to make some business calls across the date line (so it'll be Monday morning for them). The Superbowl is an absolute non-event for us, except for the knowledge that the rest of the world around us will be obsessed with it, and little to nothing meaningful will get done this weekend if it involves other people.

Same here. I'm working 9-5 Saturday and Sunday. I'll be home in time for the game though. DW is into football and DD will watch with her. I'll pop in and out and maybe watch the halftime show even though I'm not a fan of the band.

I find it funny that so far all the responses are lukewarm on the big event when 99% of the nation hasn't talked about anything else for 2 weeks. Money focused personality trait?! I'm in the same camp - couldn't care less about the game, might watch the commercials and make some game day food just because its cold and a good excuse to lounge around with the fam.
On a money-related note, I saw a story on the news this morning about how the Falcons stadium decreased prices a couple years ago to "regular" retailer pricing ($5 beers, $2 hot dogs, etc) and have seen such a big surge in concessions sales and consumer satisfaction that other sports teams are starting to follow suit. Thought it was interesting and a bit refreshing. They plan to keep the lower prices for superbowl as well.

I'm not so sure that "99% of the nation" is accurate.

I don't know why more places haven't figured this out. When we go to events, concerts, shows, movies, etc., we either bring our own snacks or just go without. Why would I pay $5 for the same box of candy that's $1 at Target or CVS? Everybody I know does the same thing. I'm sure those places would make a lot more money overall if they lowered the prices.
This has been a growing problem at Disney World, too. You are allowed to bring in food so more and more people do, even bringing in small rolling coolers and big backpacks. They do it to avoid the prices in the park. The problem is it totally clogs up the security bag check at the entrance. If they would just charge reasonable prices, everyone wouldn't be so inclined to pack a ton of food to bring in.

Until I saw this post, I didn't even know who was playing, not that I care anyhow nor does hubby. I knew the Super Bowl was coming up as several of the trivia questions that I have gotten lately were about the SB. My ex followed football and baseball and Sundays were terrible for me. It was always a case of hurry up to get home after church as the game would be on and then he would yell at the TV most of the day. He never had any interest in having folks over for the game.
