Sorry to hear about your leg Nate! I guess we have to remember they call accidents "accidents" for a reason. Stay away from skydiving too?..........

Thank you all for the get wells What's the saying though...? Fall off the horse, get right back on. Well whoever thought of that, definately hasn't ridden this horse. This one just decided to take off full speed, and know matter what I did, he wouldn't stop (not very well trained yet). So I was stuck with the decision, hold on and hope i dont fall off, or jump off and be at least a bit prepared. Guess I should have held on!

          You or the horse

Now if you were riding English, maybe, but Western???

Take care. I'm sure we can all come up with frugal ways for you to scratch under the cast!

Well, you know, if you hung on, you might have broken a leg AND an arm....
You did the best you could, and now you can collect autographs for your stuntriding!

ouch....Better to stick with riding the lawn chair for a while...I hear those are much safer!

I bet there was an interesting story behind the horse-jumping incident.

                  Nate, hope you mend quickly.

We riders say it takes 3 falls to make you a real rider. Breaking bones is not required or encouraged. I used to be a wrangler at a Dude ranch, helping people ride horses, often for the first time. General safety tips: Unless your horse is heading off a cliff or something, you are almost always safer to stay on than to bail. Grab a handful of mane down near where it grows out of the neck and press your heels down and try not to yell. Turn the horse in a circle until it slows. Always wear a helmet, always wear boots with a heel, and get your instructor or guide to show you how to stop a horse in an emergency. Oh, and if you run into trouble, don't do what 99% of all the scared lady guests did: drop the reins. I wonder if when they get into trouble on the road, do they let go of the steering wheel?

Speaking of rules for Nate, hows it healing?
