I've been a little chubby all my life, the only way I can drop weight is going on a liquid diet and literally starving myself, I need to do it again soon but I really like to eat, going to Chinese buffet today for lunch

I try to keep my weight down somewhat to keep my blood pressure in line, I've dropped and kept off around 10 pounds from last year's weight and I don't take BP medication anymore, been off the pills for a year now with regular monitoring, I really don't want to take any meds
I also hate to excersise but I do 50 sit-ups every morning and a little weight lifting in the afternoon, I go for a walk maybe once a week, my bike sits in the garage with flat tiresretired in 2009 at the age of 39 with less than 300K total net worth

For what it's worth, I find that often times, my "sense" of hunger is really in fact thirst. Even if it's genuine hunger, I would drink some water first. I have learned to love refrigerated filtered water. I mean it doesn't have to be filtered, but I guess that's one of those things I'm willing to be un-frugal about.... Still, I find that water really helps me a lot, and whenever I am home, I always have a nice, cool tall glass of water right in front of me at all times. I use a cheap thermos I once bought from Walmart, that comes with a solid plastic lid, but it's been working out great so far.
The other recommendation I've seen elsewhere, but sadly doesn't work for me, is to learn to prep and portion your foods in advance. Body builders will basically do this, to make sure their daily caloric intake and macros are right on schedule. If portioning is your problem in your diet, then I highly recommend looking into this method. Batch cooking only weekly also helps to simplify your life.
Finally, I find that if you are truly frugal about your meals, they will not be expensive at all, and can still be fairly healthy. For example rice and beans are not expensive at all. Neither are rolled oatmeals. As mentioned years before, please do be aware of your dietary intake. You can't subsist on just rice and beans alone, but it can be your staple and starting point.
Uh I'm rambling.

I know that this is a rather old post, but my husband downloaded some shows about "My 600# Life". Amazing these people, many of them bed-ridden, all with enablers that keep bringing them food. But except for one show, the thing that I have never heard is where these people get their food money from. One couple would go to the grocery store daily and buy all sorts of stuff and it was gone by the next day, so off to the store again. Other would have friends pick up to go orders of food - daily, I'm not talking buying off the $1 menu either. Most of these meals were $30-40! each! DAILY! Who has that kind of money? Just the take-out food runs $800-1000/month. That doesn't include the massive amounts of food from the store as well. Who that is bed bound and not making any money that I could see, can afford $2000 or more a month just for food for themselves. That doesn't even include other family members. One woman in trying to explain her 30-40# weight gain between appointments tried to tell the doctor that she didn't have the money to eat right because it had to be spent elsewhere. The no-nonsense doc told her to not tell him that as she obviously had enough money to buy the food that made her gain that much more weight.
Anyhow, how do they afford this kind of money? After working until my mid-40's, I had to go on disability. I know what my check looks like and I sure couldn't spend that much on food, and most of these folks have never worked a day or at least not at any high paying job, somehow have the money to spend like this. I doubt if welfare and food stamps are covering this either, at least not the whole food amount. Why would someone else earn their hard earned money and then give it to these folks as food when they are already stuffed to the gills?
