  • Help! Science Fair!!

One of my 11 year olds needs a science fair project--for TOMORROW.

Her sisters are all ready to go. She was going to a scout event which has been rescheduled. So, this morning she finds she can do the science fair, which before she was upset she would miss.

Now, we have 24 hours, so it can't be anything which requires observations to be done over time, as her sisters was.

She would like to do something with fire, but of course she can not have a real fire.

    Any ideas???

      conductor vs insulator

      get a 6V battery
run a circuit and leave a gap
put a light on the end of the circuit

then put various items in the gap- tin foil, plastics etc to show which ones conduct electricity and which ones do not

We just got home from the science fair a few minutes ago. She ended up taking her rabbit and doing vet science. She made her board with rabbit facts--a rabbit has 26 teeth, and same number of bones as a human--206. Told facts about their eyes, hearing, fur, life span.....she took a 3rd place ribbon. For her prize, she chose (off a large prize table) a robot kit to make a robot out of a popcan. She is working on it right now.

She thought about doing the electricity, but last year about 15 other kids did it. The year her sister did a volcano, there were a ton of them. This year, the one with the most entries was ph levels. About 7 of those.

Funny how some years one subject is entered repeatedly.

Glad to hear it went well. I'm sure she's thrilled with getting a ribbon, too!

Robot out of a can sounds pretty neat.
