  • Sexist Spray n Wash commercial

Has anyone seen this new Spray n Wash commercial that show an audience of about ten women being schooled by some random guy how to wash clothes? It's one of the most sexist cleaning commercials I've seen in a while. Just to be more specific it is for a non bleach substitute, and some dude is telling these women how much better this product is instead of regular bleach. This commercial pisses me off and I've written to the company already. Just wanted to know if anyone else felt the same way or doesn't really see this as sexist or just whatever. Does this company assume that guys never do the washing or that if they do they know more than women? I just can't get why they only used a women audience. It doesn't make any sense to me!

A great many commercials don't make any sense to me. And I agree that many of them are sexist and insulting. I've seen many that were pretty blatantly insulting men. I think it was JC Penney that ran a series of ads for their big sales showing a father home with the kids and unable to control them, asking, "Where is your mother?" She, of course, was at Penneys shopping the big sale.

Lots of others assume that men are incompetent at whatever the task may be.

But if you remember it for something negative, is that really good marketing? Seems more likely to influence a buyer never to even try a product, if the company has offended you somehow.

If this is true it's because we as a society have become more sexist. The media truly is predominantly a reflection of the things our society find acceptable. People always complain about how "sexy" is considered thin and blond and having huge boobs and are so quick to blame that on TV or how TV is more violent these days. Those women are sexy and TV is more violent not always because some big wig exec thinks so, but because a majority of people have that opinion and share it with the media. Think of it like how a hit show never gets canceled ( unless of course they run out of money or something like that) it's a hit because millions of viewers tune in weekly to watch it. Like Desperate housewives, the media didn't tell us the life of a housewife is entertaining, more women these days are becoming housewives and so the media tries to appeal to that population.

I completely agree with you! It is a bizzare execution for the product...

It also contains a subliminal triangle with rays coming out of it on the tag of the shirt which is suppose to mean "Do not Wash", but it looks like the pyramid with an eye like the ones on $$$.

Thank you for speaking your mind on it though , I just saw it and it made me want to research it because of how freaky it was to me.

Then I saw your post and had to subscribe to agree with you.

It is a crazy world that keeps morphing but don't worry love will always conquer these disgusting points of views some may have.
