This is a great idea in theory, however, would you like to volunteer your back yard or neighborhood? That is where this plan stalls.

I read a very depressing article in self magazine that pointed out it wasn't always so clear and simple.

And like was earlier said, most folk don't know what to choose in a position like that, fortunately most of us DONT have to make that choice, but for those that do, should we let the govt decide?

As to why dads don't get to choose. Sorry a womans body is in question here, not his. Don't go laying down the 'elements' if you don't trust the woman to raise them. Not fair, but I didn't design the system, I just teach my boys they get to stand to pee, we get to carry the babies and feed em. Nothing you can do to change that. So choose your partner wisely.

Also being libertarian, I look carefully at what will be done by folks determined to get abortions even if they are illegal...Coat hangers instead of surgical instruments? Back ally butchers? and possibly no real information about what is being done. While I do respect a womans right to choose, I believe it must be an informed decision, and medically necessary.

If you remove the medical option, you force good drs to break the law to save a life. and the line of need is to fuzzy for govt to decide. (and yes once you start ignoring the law it is easier and easier to do.)

I would like to make it clear I am not ok with abortion as birth control, I do not think it is right for a woman to kill her baby before or after birth. I simply feel that outlawing all abortion takes away a necessary medical procedure.

unfortunately abortion is a very polarized issue, even the sides are named to invoke emotions not thought..'prolife' , and 'pro hoice'. The names are not even about abortion at all.

and back on the original topic..why ,with the computers today, can I not make individual choices? vote to stay or leave iraq, vote for or against universal health car, for or against abortion, ect...why do I have to choose between two fellows who if they bother to tell me their stance never agree with me on more than one or two. Not to mention often vote completely different than they campaign?

Sorry for the poor choice of words. hehe. that came out wrong too. Sorry for the unfortunate choice of words?

Of course its safe... but could you imagine the uproar. People at my town meetings fought for twenty meetings to decide on whether or not we should move another vote back twenty minutes, so they could recalculate a number.

Of course this is the same town meeting that opened with a prayer. Which causes my draw to drop...

I dont know why you or your father were denied loans but it probaly wasnt because you were not black.

Oh and those youtubes didnt faze me.. Rev. Wright might be rich himself (so is Oprah for that matter) but in general this country is 'ran' by rich European-Americans...

He was right about racial profiling...etc...Hilary has never been called a N word true...

Actually, the lady who was handling my loan app. told me in confidence that she was sorry I wasnt getting the SBA loan and that if I was a minority I would probably be getting a check instead of being denied.

When I got hired at a police department in south florida back in the mid nineties I remember the Sgt. that handled the hiring telling me and another white recruit that we should consider ourselves very lucky since we were not black.....(his words)

My friend's mother was a school principle in south florida up to about two years ago...she said that the black children were given a concession of 10 I.Q. points to qualify for the gifted classes...meaning they were only req. to have a 120 instead of a 130 (if I remember correctly)

We all know about the discrimination that is going on in this country. These examples are indicative of "racial profiling".

Obama's pastor has made himself a rich man with racism. He has profited handsomely from it.

So far as something untrue about the video...

Hitler was not a great man.
White men are not lower on any evolutionary chain
                    I can go on...but...why?

perhaps a good way to handle it would be this.

The neighborhoods that protest are put on a sort of "back list". This means that when power demands exceed power supply from the local power plants the roving brown outs will appear first in the "back list" neighborhoods.

Think that would help move the vote along at the town meetings?

Mr Wright also says that bigger prisons, the three strikes law, etc...were brought about specifically for the black man...

Where does he get this stuff?

Of course, we shouldnt be surprised as we have heard all this before from prominant black leaders.

As an ex cop who has worked in the inner city and has handled numerous shootings, murders, car jackings, aggravated battery's, etc....I can tell you with complete certainty that it just "happened" to be that the majority of offenders in these crimes were black.

Not because I or other cops put the gun in their hands and made them commit the crime. Nor did the local judge. Nor did congress. Nor did "rich europeon americans".

Now, as someone who has studied crime through college and work...I can tell you that the best study on the causes of crime draw a direct relationship between single parent families and crime.

I, on the other hand, have never seen a study from a reputable source that showed "rich europeon americans" as being the cause of crime among blacks.
                        Or crime in general.

It takes TWO. A man AND a woman to have a baby. That's how ' the system is design, nothing you can change about that'.

I've never understood why those most able to pay get a break on their fica taxes when the vast, vast majority of Americans have to pay it on every dime they make. I wholeheartedly support lifting that exemption and plowing whatever it brings in into the social security system.

That's just a basic fairness issue to me. This is one of the most regressive taxes in America. That exemption's existence is one of the finest examples of good ole boy politics, protecting their own cans, I can think of.
I don't think the rich should have to pay millions just to get pennies. I think SS is socialism at it's worst. The next 20 to 30 years will prove me right. IMO.

You can't choose family. Except your wife or husband. You do choose them. But father, mother, aunt, uncle, second cousin, you can't choose them, so that is not a valid argument here.

You can choose who you spend time with, what church you go to (the mission statement of his church is "We are African people and we remain true to our native land, the mother continent and the cradle of civilization."...kind of scary that the next president could have more loyalty to Africa than America), who you call your "spiritual advisor". You can choose not to take special treatment from a corrupt "business man" who gives you a sweet deal on adjoining land.

You say J. Wright spoke the truth. You actually think we invited 9-11, that it is our fault that terrorists attacked us? You actually think the government invented AIDS to kill black men?

"you all try to bring race into everything", huh? Barack Obama called his own grandmother a "typical white person." He is also the one saying "they are trying to scare you because I don't look like the other presidents on the dollar bill." No one is saying that. Except him.

                                Obama vs McCain

I placed the other thread into the Everything Else area because it was getting way too negative from both sides and definitely wasn't money related (you can go there if you want to continue the negative discussion about the two candidates). It's obvious that a lot of people have very negative views of the opposing candidate. That being said, I think that a discussion of the candidates is positive for those still trying to decide. We'll see if this little experiment will work to help keep out the rhetoric and emotion.

If you like either of the candidates (or any other candidate), feel free to post here why you support your candidate, but all posts have to be positive. No posts are allowed about what you don't like about the opposing candidate.

This should be an interesting experiment and I wonder if people can support their candidate as strongly as they enjoy bashing the other candidate...
