This year it seems like we are not going anywhere.... Wonder what you guys do for the July 4th weekend?
Logging in...
What do you guys do for July 4th, when the gas price is so high?

We usually stay home and let the crowds drive everywhere - hehe. So no sweat off our back. Probably a BBQ in the neighborhood, spend time in the pool. We just generally try not to travel with the crowds.
Our littlest is pretty scared of fireworks so we will watch them from down the street. (Close enough to see the downtown fireworks from our neighborhood. But far enough not to frighten him).
I think this would be our plan, regardless of gas prices.

We have an annual cookout at our home. This year it seems as though more people are in town as our number of people have increased. We are up to 56 as of today. Fortunately a lot of the food is brought by others so the more the merrier. We have at least 6 sets of fireworks within 15 minutes of our home so we will see some from our backyard on the 4th and then the Navy base puts on a free concert/fireworks on Sunday and they are some of the best fireworks that I have ever seen.

We went to the annual breakfast at the fire department and then stayed home the rest of the day. We watched the FT Vancouver fireworks on tv. It was great, no crowds, no mosquitos, no traffic to deal with. And, we popped popcorn for the boys to eat while they were watching them and we let them eat them in the living room. Eating in the living room is still a "treat", so they thought it was cool.

Had a pretty busy July 4th
Went to mystery spot in Santa Cruz(it's a pretty cute place for people who have never been there). Originally we wanted to go to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz afterwards, but could not find a parking space after all
So we had to change our plan and drove another 30 miles to outlet for shopping. There was a huge crowd of people, while the price is not really cheap. I guess we are not in a recession after all, at least not in Bay Area!
