Awesome post. I love Mr. Rogers. Here are my two thoughts on him:

          1. My mother always told me that the reason she liked Mr. Rogers was because he never spoke down to children.

          2. Check out the link below. Mr. Rogers was asked to do the Commencement speech at Dartmouth in 2002. The students there couldn't believe that Mr. Rogers was "the best the school could get", particularly when Harvard, I believe, invited Kofi Annan to do their graduation the same year. There were articles in the student paper bashing the choice of Mr. Rogers. He went on to deliver one of the most eloquent, thoughtful speeches I have ever read. I still get choked up when I read it, and hope that the children who complained about it have grown up to appreciate him for what he was: a tolerant, loving man who saw the best in everyone...

I'd choose (insert just about anyone here) over Kofi Annan any day.

That address by Fred Rogers was superb!

Thanks for the links. I never really watched Mr. Rogers as a child (I was more of a Mr. Dressup fan), but as an adult reading about him it makes me wish that I did.

The link with his commencement address is timely, my own graduation ceremony is next Monday! His words were very moving.
