      Re: financial software

i use Excel to create my budget and map my month/year. it's also how i track monthly spending.

i use freeware called Money Manager EX to actually manage all of my account transactions. it works like a check register, but you can have multiple accounts and 'transfer' from one to the other. i like this because even though i have 1 online savings account and 1 'real' savings account, Money Manager shows all my little 'sub' accounts: gifts, property tax, homeowners insurance, etc. so, rather than looking at say a 3k balance in savings i check Money Manager and can tell what part of that 3k is designated for what purposes.

and did i mention it's free?

I use an Excel spreadsheet for budgeting and Quicken for recording transactions and tracking. I also have used Quicken's Debt Reduction Planner feature.

I use Moffsoft FreeCalc too. (A freeware adding-machine style calculator.)

I use Quicken for tracking and budgeting. It's the only program I've used for these purposes, but I love it. I bought Quicken 2004 (in 2004) on ebay, new for under $10.
