With a major, 100 day election campaign getting underway, what is the likelihood of a bill being accepted to ease the burden of student loans? With interest rates so low, and every attempt to raise rate failing, I can see opportunities to reduce payout.

Time for student loans

I have a problem with this. If you are concerned about the "burden" of student loans, don't borrow more than you can comfortably afford to repay. Don't rack up 100K in debt to get a basketweaving degree and then look to the taxpayers to bail you out. If you can't afford the school you are interested in without taking out a boatload of loans, go to a different school.Originally posted by snafu View PostWith a major, 100 day election campaign getting underway, what is the likelihood of a bill being accepted to ease the burden of student loans?Steve
* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

our local State University only charges 6k a year for tuition. DD wants to live on campus, as I think she should, and that brings the cost up. But I think state school or community college for two years and then a state school are a wonderful way for a student to get a decent education without a lot of debt. I figure she can take out loans for a great grad school.Originally posted by Randomsaver View PostHow much does college cost now? I'm getting scared. I have my eldest turning 11 this year and entering Middle School (public) but as some of you may know, I have only $2K saved up for college so far.
Congrats Disneysteve for making it midway of college for your daughter. I'm sure you'll be fine with your high salary as a Doctor.
however, we are looking at private Botson colleges that the cheapest one is 45k/yr. She's going to apply and see what she gets in Financial Aid, scholarships, grants and work study.
Collegeboard.com helps you get a rough idea of what you'd get in financial aide for each school
