  • Is there such a thing as scholarships for student loans?

I'm wondering if there are scholarships awarded after school for students to help pay back their student loans. Has anyone heard of this?

It depends on the field of employment. I'm a physician and there are numerous loan repayment programs, usually for doctors who agree to practice for a certain amount of time (usually 2 years) in a medically-underserved area.

I've heard of various other jobs where the employer offers a loan repayment plan as part of the benefits package.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I agree with disneysteve, it appears to depend on your field. I've heard if you go work for some government agencies they will forgive your loans. Also, in Miami if you teach at certain designated schools (typically inner-city or low-income neighborhoods) for a certain period of time (I think its 5 years) they will cover 70% of your student loans so I'm assuming most cities/counties must have some type of program like this as well. The other instance I've heard of is in academia, a university trying to attract prospective faculty might offer to pay off their student loans as part of their hire package.
