  • Chai Frappuccino Recipe??

These things are absolutely heavenly, however I would prefer to not have to pay SB's price for them. I looked up the copycat recipes, however I cannot find how to make this one....Any super cooks have ideas, it tastes quite different from the other Starbuck's fraps....I have chai mix at home already. Would love to figure out how to make these for summer---Yum!

well, i've never had theirs, but i would suggest buying a box of black chai tea (although green chai is also available) and following the instructions for making traditional chai on the box (basically you simmer the teabags in milk). add a little sweetener of your choice, and enjoy hot/pour over ice/blend with ice for a smoothie.

my personal favorite chai is from Stash Tea. it is sold in about half of my local grocery stores $3 for a box of 20 bags in the tea section, but if you like it you can order it from their website 120 bags for $17.25 or 240 for $31.25.

        Chai

        3 cups water
3 cups milk (I use skim)
6-8 black or decaf black tea bags
        1/2 cup honey
        1 tsp ground cinnamon
        1 tsp ground cardamom
        1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves (I use less because I don't like too strong a clove taste)
1/2 tsp ground ginger (or a mashed small chunk of fresh)

Bring water and milk to a boil. Add other ingredients, return to boil. Turn off heat and let steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags then filter through fine strainer. Good hot or cold. (I keep it in the refrigerator and microwave it if I want it hot.)

        Starbucks Frappuccino

2 shots espresso (approx. 3 oz) - You can alternate this with coffee that has been run through coffee maker twice.
        2 1/2 cups low-fat milk
        1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 Tbls. pectin OR 1 tsp. pectin + 1 tsp. arrowroot

Stir sugar into espresso. Cool mixture. Stir milk and pectin into espresso mixture until pectin is dissolved. Fill a glass with ice and either serve mixture over ice, or pour glass contents into blender and blend for 30-45 seconds.

        Starbcks Frappuccino
3/4 cup coffee (double strength and cold)
        1 cup low-fat milk
        3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups ice (crushed seems to work a little better)
        3 tablespoons chocolate syrup

        Blend all ingredients in blender.
