That's a great deal. We recently joined BJ's with a Groupon but this is throwing in a lot more perks. Costco isn't that convenient to us so BJ's works better but if you've got a Costco nearby, this is well worth the deal.

Too bad it needs to be redeemed by Nov 1st. I would have bought it as a grab bag gift for Christmas. The VitaRain water was almost $14 at my Costco the last time I checked. I wonder how they would handle that coupon.

We decided to take advantage of this. I bought it last night. I figured that with the $20 gift card and the free stuff, it's close to free for a year of membership. As long as we go once or twice, we'll be ahead of the game.

If anyone is interested, Living Social now has the same offer:

We went over and used our Groupon to join Costco today.

Sorry to say I was not impressed. BJ's has a much better selection of things we actually buy. I was quite disappointed. Counting the gift card and coupons, the net cost of joining is only about $5 so it certainly isn't a big deal but I just don't see us going there much.

I would suggest that before anyone decides to join, get a day pass and take a good look around. Make sure that it's worth it to you. Had we done that first, we probably would have not bothered to sign up.

I think you can buy alcohol from Costco without membership, need to tell them at the door that' what you're doing. But buying memberships at various wholesale clubs kinda doesn't make too much sense in general. At least for sams club and Costco, they're largely similar. Kinda like home depot and lowes.

I certainly wouldn't have considered it at regular price. With the Groupon, the Costco membership is essentially $5 so I figured it was worth checking out at that price. Sometimes one may be more convenient for us than the other.
