  • Saving grease

I always strain and save my grease-I use it when I make gravy, but I always save way more than I need. Does anyone else save it? If so, what do you do with it besides make gravy??

Bacon grease is amazing to "spice" up lima beans!

I learned this from a cook where I used to work.

      Re: Saving grease

I only make bacon so that I can have the grease! I use it for fried rice, refried beans, hash browns, fried potatoes, & anything else I can think of. I think it gives food an amazingly wonderful flavor.

It's the only grease I save. If I fry potatoes, I will save that oil for the next time I fry potatoes. The oil takes on a potato flavor, so I don't like it for anything else.
