Anyone grow spinach? I have grown it for a few years without problems. This year, after I cut it once, it bolted (grew straight up) and then wilted instead of growing back.
Anyone know why? I have ripped it all out and replanted, but still wondering what happened differently...TIA.

    Re: spinach

My spinach has been doing the same thing. I've come to the conclusion the seeds we usually have in the pacific NW are for cooler, shorter growing seasons than we now have. I am hoping to get a batch of spinach off my crop this next week.....then, I predict it will bolt too, since it is sooooo hot here.
I've planted my spinach in pots, where I can have them under the eaves for shade, and move them too if necessary. Trying to keep them out of the sun.
My radishes have been doing the same thing. I've now started planting just a few of the seeds every day or so............then I end up with a couple when I want to do a salad. But, I'm still pulling out the ones that quickly go to seed.

I have faced similar problem with the spinach in my garden. Even though we have a shade over our garden the spinach leaves are not too healthy and dry up quickly.
