  • Free Black-Eyed Susans and Butterfly Milkweed

In order to improve Bee and butterly populations, an advocacy organization called the Alt National Parks Service is giving away free seed packets.

They're currently offering Black-Eyed Susans and Butterfly Milkweed.

Looks legit - I signed up myself.

The sign up link is here: https://altnps.org/seed-packs

james.hendrickson Just to be clear -- this is NOT an offering from the federal government's US National Parks Service. This is an independent, private environmental advocacy organization calling itself the "Alt National Parks Service." While from my brief research I can't find anything indicating that it's a scammy site that handles your personal information inappropriately, I think it's important for it to be clearly understood exactly to whom you're giving your name/address (and who they are NOT). It seems that they also periodically offer other free stuff such as litter cleanup kits, and also sell a variety of items. So it seems that they have an admirable mission.

It only takes a couple of clicks to realize that this organization is vehemently anti-Trump (which is totally fine -- a private organization & its constituents/advocates are are entirely welcome to hold whatever opinions they choose). But a legitimate federal agency would definitely NOT actively criticize a sitting president on an official website or social media platform.

Oh....good catch on that Kork. I guess I got pretty pumped up about the "free seeds" angle. Thanks for running that to ground.

Edited to make the source clearer.

"Free" is definitely nice. My MIL is big into nature/flowers/gardening, so I may have to share this with her.... I'm sure she'd appreciate the opportunity to plant some more stuff around her neighborhood.
