  • laceshawl's 2015 Money Saving Challenge

I'm doing this in reverse. I got a head start on Boxing Day by saving $52 out of some Christmas money I received. It should be easier for me to save in January as it's summer here and heating costs are lower. I'm saving to beef up my EF.

I should have put in $51 today, but I didn't want to lower the amount and I could afford more so i put in another $52. I have decided to treat each week's amount as a minimum to aim at and put in more when I can. Just think, if I'm able to save $52 for 52 weeks that will be $2,704.

Welcome to the challenge! You're off to a great start and you'll have a good emergency fund in no time if you keep hitting those amounts. Congrats!

Week 3. Not much money spent this week so I was able to add another $52. With the regular $30 a month autopayment and some interest I now have $2,588.31.

Nice job! So are you crossing off the boxes each week? 52,51,50 even though you're depositing bonus amounts?
Keep it up! We need more challenge participants like you in here.

I have a chart that shows the suggested amount each week and total so far, with also spaces to write in your actual deposit and total.

I am enjoying this challenge and seeing my total advance so much, I am starting another challenge. This time the usual way round, in cash. This is money I am saving up to spend in India in December, so I won't be saving the full 52 weeks, but I should have over a thousand dollars.

Hi laceshawl! Good to see you're being really aggressive with the challenge! At the end of the year that $1K will go a long way in India too.

It's not Wed, but I paid another $113 into the EF. Doing my darnedest to come up with another $114 next week and I will be done.
