Thanks workinabroad. I can't wait to get to the end of the challenge. I've been trying to figure out how I can modify it so that I'm motivated to do it again next year. I'm behind on so many financial goals that it is hard to figure out which one to tackle first!
I deposited $9 for Week 45 of the challenge. This account is online with Ally Bank, so after my deposit is credited, it will bring my challenge total to $1,347.91 (includes interest).
I deposited $8 for Week 46 of the challenge. I am so glad that I knocked off the large amounts earlier in the year as it has made the end of the year much easier for me. I don't plan on spending a lot on Christmas gifts though; I'll be working on my savings until I build up an 8 month emergency fund.
I deposited $4 for Week 50 of the challenge. I asked my family if they wanted to do the challenge again next year and if they had suggestions to modify it, and a couple of my family members replied that they wanted to continue, so I'm hoping the others will as well. My sister suggested that we increase the percentage, but if anyone has ideas here, I would like to hear them. Thanks in advance!
Almost there! I agree with your sister. We should increase the amount in some way. Next year, I will for sure do double the challenge.
In the future, I want to try 6% of each paycheck. Then 9% and cap at 12%. (I get paid monthly.)If I start with 3 percent, I won't save as much as the original.
Great job on the challenge! I think it is great you are going to do it again, too. I will be doing my own version of the Money Challenge, which you can read about over on my blog.

I had initially planned on trying to double the challenge, but I'm worried that it might be too challenging and I'll get discouraged. It's hard to find a happy medium where I'll be challenged without setting the bar too high. My sister's idea was to increase it by 25%, but I think I'm going to set my goal to increase it by 50% for 2014.
