  • Alicia13's Challenge

I'm so happy to have this area! I was able to save $6 week one. I know that isn't a lot, but since I haven't been saving anything, I see it as a huge step in the right direction. I hope to only improve from here. i still need to learn a lot about saving money and have been spending a lot of time in the forums. I'm hoping this will be successful since I've failed a lot of other times.

How did you save the $6? Did it come from doing something specific or was that just what you had left over at the end of the week? I'm curious how people are doing this.

Alicia13 - Those savings will add up! Take it from someone who was in debt up to her eyeballs in just the last few years, and now I'm working on building my emergency fund. Keep up the good work!

I was able to save $13 in week two. I know it's still not a lot of money, but it's more than I saved the first week and makes my total savings $19. I try to keep telling myself that the amount isn't what matters as much as that I'm saving instead of having no money at all. It's hard sometimes, though, because I want to save $52 in a week. I need to be careful that I don't get too impatient.

I have been creating my savings by emptying my pockets each day when I get home of the change and dollar bills. I know that I need to start looking for other ways to save and add than money on top of the change as well. Starting that will be my goal for next week.

Thank you to all for the encouragement!!

This week I managed to save $21, here is my challenge so far:

                  Week 1: $6
                  Week 2: $13
                  Week 3: $21

                  Current total: $40

I'm slowly getting better, but I still have a long way to go to get tot the top numbers. I think I will try to sell some of the extra stuff I have on CraigsList in order to make up for the bigger numbers (I'm not sure how i will be able to accomplish them just through savings). The good news is that I have stuck with this for three weeks and I have $40 more saved than if I wasn't doing this

Well, there are many ebooks available in the internet. There are many tips like using public transport, cutting up water or electric bill etc. You may try that.
