  • 3 Tips of saving money with shopping

These tips may not help me save money, but they do help me pay less.

    Tip 1
I always ask myself 3 questions before I hand in my credit card:
Is this item necessary for me? 50% or 100%?
    Do I have similar items?
    When will I abandon it?
After I ask myself, I gave up most consideration of buying.

    Tip 2
Searching for sales and clearance online.
I once found a Calvin Klein Wedge at 80% off! That's so amazing~

is there any reason why you shop with a credit card and not a debit card. just wondering why people who pay off their credit cards every month use credit instead of a debit card. do you get miles or cash back.

I pay mine off every month and I get cash back. I do not own a debit card nor do I want one.

Those are good rules. I don't understand the credit thing either. Debit is the way to go for me.

Everybody has to go shopping. Although many people hate it, especially the men, it is still a necessary inconvenience that must be done. Whether you are shopping for food, gas, clothes, or whatever else you are looking for, in order to get the goods you need, you must shop around for those goods. But you don't just get the first thing you see. If you know what you are doing, you will shop around to get the best bargain for your dollar.

In my opinion, you can save money in shopping through asking some discounts. You cannot believe this but someone i know always ask the owner to give her discounts so that she can be regular customer. nice idea?

I just want to mention that some debit cards have rewards programs attached to them. If you avoid paying with credit cards, you might want to ask your bank if they offer reward points when you use your debit card as a credit card.

P.S. paying with a credit card is fine in my book as long as you pay off the balance before accruing finance charges. showing a good payment history with a credit card is important in building a good credit score.

Good tips indeed, I prefer to buy from the factory outlets or the direct online sources. We can save big by reducing middle agencies.

My dad always used to say that if you never ask, you'll never get... There's no harm in attempting to negotiate when appropriate. The worst that they can say is NO. Shop for bargains and if you don't see one, ask for it!

I have noticed that the back of some grocery store receipts have some good deals. Not just for that store, but for other local businesses.

I am always on the look out for coupons from local businesses as that allows me to support my local business and also many times they actually offer things that I was in need of anyway so I save money then as well!

                            Credit vs Debit

Some credit card companies offer built in insurance that extends the life of a warranty. Using a credit card is sometimes a good idea should you have to dispute the purchase for defects or other reasons. As long as the consumer pays it off ASAP, credit cards have advantages. In most cases I prefer cash but each payment option (check, credit, cash, debit, barter) have their own pros and cons.

Wait before you buy. In order to break the habit of wasting money on impulse purchases, impose a waiting period on yourself. Wait for a month, and if you still really want that item, then buy it if you have the money.
