As I was watching Good Morning America today I came across an interview with a man named Robert Pagliarini. On the show, he explained how to dramatically reduce your monthly spending by sitting down and spending a few minutes analyzing and categorizing your spending. It is a very simple process but one that I believe can dramatically save you money each month.
The PERK system has two steps that will take you about half an hour.
1. Analyze your current expenses. Go ahead and write down everything you spend money on routinely and add up how much it is costing you.The Six-Day Financial Makeover: Transform Your Financial Life in Less Than a Week!
2. Categorize these expenses into the PERK system.
P. Write a "P" next to those expenses which can be postponed (that new flat screen tv)
E. Write an "E" next to those expenses which can be eliminated (that old Netflix membership or magazine subscription)
R. Write an "R" next to those expenses which can be reduced (eating out, cell phone bill)
K. Write a "K" next to the expenses you must keep.
Pagliarini claims this process can save you hundreds of dollars a month and from what I can see, I'd believe it! It's simple and easy to do. So go PERK and save yourself some cash this year!
