Squeeze a little lemon juice into a bowl of water to use as a rinse to keep fruit like apples from browning.

These are some VERY good tips, also what helps is to squirt some lemon or lime onto a scortched on greasy pan and it helps so much better than dish soap.

I use lemon to clean the bathtub... pick a few off the tree and cut the lemon down the middle or squeezs the juice in a pitcher

                Hi, HollyGO,

Have you ever tried adding some salt to the lemon juice for cleaning pots and pans? It really makes them shine and brings back the copper on copper bottom pans.

Gee, garilon, I wish I were your neighbor. I'd love to have your extra fresh lemons from your tree.

By the way, squeezing lemon juice in H2O and drinking it cleanses your system, as it is very alkaline. Alkalizing is an important step in maintaining your health.

Wow, cleaning with lemons!!!! That's really cool. I have used vinegar before and ammonia before but never lemons. I guess the lemon would reduce the scent of the vinegar. I'll have to try the lemon juice for cleaning pans.

                    Cicy33,

Hey lemons won't grow in Seattle either, unless you have a greenhouse.
They DO grow palm trees though, it's amazing.

I wonder if there is any kind of other fruit you could substitute for lemons.

                    Lemons are expensive here too.

Use the juice of a lemon with some hair conditioner for a clarifying mask for your hair. Leave on for a few minutes. Removes build up and adds softness!

Lemon as a cleaner - boil some lemon pills and use it to wash your floors - great shine!

insert a pill of half a lemon into the dish washer - the cleanest dishes

                          Here's what I think, Alex--

An oil that is in lemon skins will react with some plastics, making the plastic permanently sticky and fogged. So don't put lemon peels in your dishwasher if you have anything plastic in there. In fact, if your dishwasher has any plastic parts, it is probably wise not to put lemon peels in it.

In general I think these lemon tips can only be money saving where lemons are very cheap or where they grow on trees in your yard. Here in the Midwest USA, lemons are not what I would call inexpensive.

I love the idea of freezing the peels of the different citrus fruits to be able to boil them on the stove as a scent for the kitchen. I throw away a lot of them. Probably would be good in a compost pile as well.

I'll have to give some of them a try...I love the smell of lemons as cleaning supplies, and the taste is refreshing. Now that I have all of these ideas I can buy more lemons and put them to use!
