  • Save on Sunscreen

Since exposure to the sun is the #1 cause of skin aging, those wishing to remain younger looking would benefit from using a good sunscreen when going out in the sun.

The government suggests a SPF of at least 15, but this rating assumes a "liberal application," and most consumers don't apply enough to get the full rated protection.

If you buy a SPF 30 sunscreen and apply it "less than liberally," you would probably get the suggested SPF 15 or more while using less product. For example, if you use 2/3 the suggested quantity of a SPF 30 product, you would end up with about a SPF 20 at a 33% savings.

Why not just buy a SPF 60 product and save even more?

It's a lot harder to apply small amounts of sunscreen evenly. It's better to apply an amount that is guaranteed to provide even protection at the desired levels than it is to risk under-protection.

Savings aside, since most consumers don't apply enough sunscreen, I am suggesting using a higher SPF-rated product to compensate for this under-application. Consult your doctor before trying this. In fact, consult a team of highly trained dermatologists before trying this.

    Be well,

I bought a pound of zinc oxide powder (for $15) for every 16oz of (dollar store lotion) you add 2 tablespoons this creates a 30spf sunscreen at $2 per 16oz it doesn't get any cheaper than that. But you must be careful when you use zinc oxide you must wear a protective air mask (most dollar stores have too) because it is very bad to breathe it in, make the sunscreen outside with no one around. Mix it well before you take off the mask.

I made limited use and controlled over buys. Trying to search some alternative solutions.
