1. If possible, choose a hair style that doesn't need to be styled.

2. Keep your hair as short as possible. The shorter it is, the faster and easier it is to dry.

3. After washing your hair, spend an extra 5 minutes drying it thoroughly with a towel.

4. Don't dry your hair immediately after taking your shower or bath. Give it a quick brushing and then do other activities for at least 15 minutes while letting your hair air dry (or while wrapped in a towel).

5. If you need to style your hair, do it after your hair is almost completely dry for stying purposes.

6. If you have to use the hair dryer choose the lowest heat setting instead of high heat.

7. If your hair dryer has a cool air setting, use that instead of hot air.

In my mind, the hair dryer uses too much electricty, more than it's worth. The average hair dryer uses between 1200 and 1800 watts. Some even use more! If you use the hairdryer for 10 minutes every morning, the cost can really add up.

Plus, I would think your hair is healthier without the forced drying. Of course, some may disagree, especially if you have longer hair. I guess in that case I'm envious since I'm rapidly losing mine!

Wash them at night. They will be dry in the morning. Hair dryer are rather damading for hair.

For us older folks. The other day I curled my hair and went shopping. This lady actually walked up to me to tell me how she used to put a scarf on. Curlers in your hair, shame on you! I didn't care. I washed, curled, and went shopping. The next day I was prettier.

Unfortunaly DS has a choice, blow dry it or cut it.....He has very curly hair and well nothing makes a 4 year old sit still and not toss their head long enogh for curly hair to 'set' (boy that sounds silly talking about a boy needing thier hair to set!)

But I can airdry(is straight, long but straight), and DH can 'hold his head still' and DD has softer curls, so not as particular (or as likely to dry straight in front of her face!)

But my oldest DS......well I am reconsidering letting my kids pick their hair style!

I have naturally curly hair and straighten it. I do it every 2 to 3 days. I would never do it every day to much money and not good for my hair.

Buy only having to wash my hair every few days I save on shampoo, conditioner, hair products and electric.

I actually never thought about how much energy a hair dryer could suck up per year!
I no longer blow dry unless it's a special occassion b/c my hair was being damagaed.

I started washing my hair every other day when DS was born last year.
About 6 months ago I started washing it before bed and letting it dry overnight. Not only do I save $$ on shampoo, conditioner, syling products and the hair dryer, I can go longer between haircuts because my hair is healthier and the ends don't split as much!

Absolutely correct! That's what exactly I do! I have not used a hair drier for decades - since I was a child actually. Besides that a hair drier consumes so much electricity, it damages my hair and above all - I can't stand the heat! So I have been saving for decades without knowing it!

hair too & nbsp; long &nbsp ;and thick &nbsp ; to &nbsp ;blowdry!!!

seriously, even if i wanted to it takes the me over half an hour to get my hair completely dry: who's got time for that?!? and w/ long hair i mostly wear it up and can go for many a moon without washing it. one of the perks of dry skin, i guess: no oily hair!

I have a hairdryer. We never use it.

My kids have short hair, especially DS. He loves to get haircuts. He got his first haircut when he was 4 months old and couldn't even sit by himself yet, but wasn't turning his head like my DD still does.

DH doesn't even need a hair brush. His hair is very-very short.

My hair is long, but I don't use a hairdryer, mostly because I hate noise. And drying for me is just a waste of time. I try to take showers at nights, so I am not in a hurry to go anywhere, and still have at least an hour before I go to bed.

My hair get oily on the third day. It used to be the fifth day when I was a teen. We lived overseas that time, and it's normal there to take shower about once a week. So, I guess, my hair started to get oily faster because I take showers more often now.

Long T.H.I.C.K. hair - wash it at night before bed. I sleep w/a Vornado fan and it's soon dry.

When we had floor heater vents as a kid I used to do the laying w/my head on it to dry my hair thing.

Also this trick is for you guys and girls in a huge hurry - must leave house in 10 minutes but also ABSOLUTELY have to wash hair. Go outside and put your wet head over the ac/furnace fan. Wave to the neighbors. Dry in a jiffy.

No time to shampoo & even do the above drying trick? If you have light colored hair then give the oily portions of your head a dash w/some baby powder and then brush it out. Watch out for the white streak down your part (give a lick w/a wet wash rag). May be a little staticy, so rub your damp hands over it a few times when you're thru.
Good to get you to the grocery and back w/o embarassing yourself cuz' sure-as-shooting if you go w/it dirty you'll run into an old flame!

I've never been a big fan of hair driers anyway but years of farm work, and putting my hair up everday, has spoiled me forever. It used to look greasier a lot quicker in high school, maybe because I showered every night? Now that I shower a few times a week or longer, or sponge bath bits when I need too, it seems to stay nicer longer. I also have super dry skin so maybe that has something to do with it too.
