I really like "saving money" at work by getting free stuff!
1. Free lunch - My office offers cereal, tuna, bread, bagels, and a few other things. Not the most enticing lunch but good once in a while, especially knowing you are saving money.
2. Free supplies - Office supplies are expensive. Why not take home some free paper clips and Post It Notes?
3. Free stuff - Does you office have some company T-Shirts. How about backpacks? Usually these are reserved for clients and customers, but why not take something home for yourself once in a while?
4. Free soda - My office has almost every variety of soda. I like to take a can home each day as I leave so I don't have to buy any soda myself.
We all work really hard. Make sure to get all the free stuff you can!
Find out about all of the benefits of your job. Most people aren’t even aware of all of the benefits available to them. Spend some time with an HR person finding out about all the benefits of your job - you might be surprised at what you might find. Sometimes employers offer free tickets to sporting events, free personal improvement opportunities, and an optional employee match on some retirement funds that maximized the money you are. This will not only cut down on your spending on things like sporting and community events and educational classes, but also improve you retirement plan.
Make sure to maximize your 401K contributions especially if your employer has a matching policy.
Going green saves money. Avoid using disposable coffe cups, spoons, knives, etc. Change the default setting in your printer to be double sided. Do not print unless you absolutely have to.
That was a great tips. Here are another tips at work:
Work
1. Plan Your Day. Do this religiously and you’ll be far more productive. Plan only as much as you can actually accomplish. Be realistic about time frames and do the most difficult and most important stuff first. Make a habit of doing this first thing when you wake up or at the end of the day.
2. Get Things Ready the Night Before. Prepare as much as you can to make mornings stress free. Set out clothes. Have bags packed and by the door. Make your lunch and have your breakfast chosen and partially prepared. Have a travel coffee mug ready. Put the coffee in the coffee maker.
Find a coworker who lives nearby to you and carpool.
Talk a walk on your lunch hour instead of joining a gym to use the treadmill.
Bring your own snacks instead of hitting the vending machine.
Take advantage of the free coffee and tea or start a "coffee club" and share the cost instead of hitting the convenience store or Starbuck's in the morning.
Offer to make the bank and/or post office run and take care of your own business at the same time to save yourself time and money.
Bring your own (reusable) water bottle to work and refill it at the water cooler instead of purchasing water from the vending machine.
