I use my Flexible Savings Account throug my employer whereby you predetermine the amount of pre-tax dollars to be set aside for "copay and uncovered" medical expenses. You have to estimate the amount carefully because any unused $$ are lost at the end of the year. I never lost a penny using this benefit and saved quite a bit.
Keep your hands clean. This one’s simple - just wash your hands thoroughly each time you use the bathroom or handle raw foods. You’ll keep yourself from acquiring all kinds of viruses and bacteria, saving you on medical bills and medicine costs and lost productivity. That’s not to say you shouldn’t explore the world and get your hands dirty sometimes - that’s good for you, too - but basic sanitation does help keep the medical bills away.
If you take a prescription medication on a regular basis, ask your doctor to write a three month prescription. Instead of paying three co-pays, you only pay one.
I'm saving over 35% on my prescription by making small talk w/my pharmacist. I take meds on a daily basis that does not have a generic yet. So even with insurance I have been paying close to $250 a month for the first 2 months then $90 per month for the remaining months in the calendar year. My pharmacist looked up my meds & saw that it comes in 3 dosages. He priced it out & found out that by having my DR prescribe a higher dosage & cutting it in 1/2 I save so much money.
Flexible savings acounts are great. Whatever plan you have, learning basic techniques to nurture your immune system should always be first priority.
Consume fruits and veggies with vitamin C ( grapefruit, kiwi, lemonjuice squezed in H20, broccoli). If you supplement, try to find one that is food based.
Learn basics of homeopathy (It boosts immune systems).
