Beyond Exhausted

October 11th, 2018 at 12:08 PM by Jazzy

I'm so, so tired. Since I'm out on my trip next week, I've been trying to make it in to the office every day this week. Today was incredibly difficult, but I made it. I'm leaving a bit early for a therapy appointment. Hoping the therapy helps with everything I've been dealing with.

Financially, we're slipping a bit, but mostly holding it together. I need to get a better bill payment system in place. With me being out of it, I've paid 3 bills late so far this month. The money...

Worst Day of My Life

October 11th, 2018 at 03:47 AM by Laura

I came home from school and found out my mother had a massive stroke. She is on a ventilator, and we are holding off on removing anything until my daughter gets here from NC tomorrow night (and she is nearly 7 months pregnant). This is all so surreal, and I feel like I am in the middle of nightmare.

At least my youngest was still here on leave from the Air Force. It is also my oldest son's birthday.

The family has also decided to tell my grandma. She is with it enough to...

Age and Home Buying: When Is The Right Time to Buy A Condo?

October 11th, 2018 at 01:45 AM by Dominique Santos

In truth, there is no right age or time to buy. The condition depends from person to person. You might afford a condo now but you might prefer a house and lot. Meanwhile, your peers are happy to have a condo but they don't have the means to purchase one. Moreover, buying property might not be best in the long run. If you consider your financial aspect, you'll find that renting can help you save more money than you would when you buy.

If you really want to have a property of...

Day 136

October 11th, 2018 at 12:42 AM by Tina

I have just under 5 years to save in my Kiwisaver until retirement. I have been putting in $10 a week since my last job, today I increased it to $20 to take advantage of the tax incentive.

Just Trying to Keep Her Alive

October 10th, 2018 at 09:20 PM by Lucky Robin

Things are getting pretty bad for my daughter. It really feels like we are fighting for her life here and everything is just too darn slow. Her hair has been falling out for a while now, but now it is starting to come out in clumps.

She had a lot of hair to start with so it wasn't so noticeable, just the sheer amount on her pillow or when she brushed her hair or that we were pulling out of the shower drain showed it. But now it is starting to get much more obvious. She wants...

Haircut, Etc.

October 10th, 2018 at 01:02 PM by CB in the City

I got a haircut yesterday for $18, using a $2 coupon. And I paid my grandson $5 for his cat-sitting services while I was gone last weekend.

My variables are at 42%, with two weeks to go.

The ortho doctor's office called last night and left a message that it was too early to make an April appointment for surgery. I see him in December for a followup appointment, so I'll discuss it with him then.

That reminded me that my primary care doctor wanted me to make a followup...

I may jump ship

October 10th, 2018 at 11:54 AM by PatientSaver

I've been coasting along at my little p/t job, feeling fairly content. To recap, it's about 20 hours a week, pays $32/hr and is pretty easy to do. It's still a 40-minute commute (1-way) 3 days a week.

The game plan was to stay with this job for the next 6 years until I can get on Medicare.

More recently, I've been feeling a bit frustrated since I've been pushing to be moved from the recruiter agency payroll to the company's payroll, becus I feel the raises would be much better...

Is Fall Actually Coming?

October 9th, 2018 at 03:17 PM by DK62565

Here in Central Illinois it has been way above average as far as temperatures. Hot and muggy in fact.

But that is supposed to change starting tomorrow with highs in the 50s and some lows in the upper 30s. DH has been starting to pull up garden plants. Yesterday I asked him to pick all the remaining red bell peppers and I washed and chopped them and put them in a freezer bag to use throughout the winter in soups and casseroles.

I have been working on drying herbs. All that...

Web Design Checks

October 9th, 2018 at 01:33 PM by klarose

I received 3 web design checks this week. Allowing me to put $462 towards the biggest home credit card. That brings the total down to $7,683!

Most people suggest to pay off the smallest balance first but I would like to get both accounts under $6k so I can easily balance transfer them next year to new 0% interest cards. I am guessing it will take two more years to pay them off, but who knows. Anything can happen. Perhaps husband will get a ton of overtime allowing us to speed...

September Goals Update

October 9th, 2018 at 12:04 PM by Jazzy

Edited - Forgot to update intro...Below are our original goals for the remainder of 2018 along with how we're tracking to meet them. As I thought, September was difficult. Hoping to get things back on track through the end of the year for everything except last month's income. Since kiddo is (hopefully) due in April, we plan to have last month's income in place by then.

1) Pay off 2 more credit cards (Ashley Furniture balance: $827, Marriott balance: $2500): On track - Paid...

Day 135

October 9th, 2018 at 08:16 AM by Tina

My unit is on a cross lease, i.e. I own the building and am responsible for my own insurance and repairs, but all the unit owners are equally responsible for section costs such as hedge trimming and paving the driveway.

Today I got back to find the arborist felling a tree. I don't know who called him and whether I am going to be sent a share of the bill. I don't really mind the tree going as it was dying and getting dangerous, plus with it gone more light comes in my kitchen,...

October 6 & 7 - Weekend

October 9th, 2018 at 01:05 AM by Monkey Mama

October 6
$ 3 Groceries (garlic bread for dinner)
$23 Fuel (Hybrid Car)
$25 Target ($5 Groceries + $20 towels)
Dinner: Spaghetti @ Parents' House

I had picked up a couple of $5 towels at Target the week prior and decided to stock up on a few more. I also did like 5 loads of laundry (so it felt like) and noticed our old cloth napkins were pretty sad, so picked up a few more of those. All that stuff was on sale, I just ordered online. The kids would probably appreciate...

October 4
$52 Groceries
Dinner: Cheeseburger Pasta

MH did another grocery run. Can't say I've really talked to him all week. I am guessing he just didn't have time (to plan one big trip) and so broke it up into a couple of smaller trips this week.

For work, I was going to go on a bit of a field trip but it was canceled due to crazy weather. I work for a home builder now; we were going out to look at the construction process for some development that is probably close...

Spendy Weekend

October 8th, 2018 at 11:15 PM by Creditcardfree

We drove one of our cars to our new location this weekend. I'm a good driver, but get massive anxiety driving on the interstate. I can do it, but it's mentally exhausting. So for a two day trip, I just can't do it!

Costs for gas were nearly $200 (according to my husband), which seems high, so will need to double check. Two hotel nights were nearly $230, food spent was easily $200 and we flew one way back to our current home for $660. Yep, nearly $1300!

We made the decision...
