Army Travel Reimbursement Plus

November 28th, 2018 at 09:23 PM by Creditcardfree

I was pleasantly surprised to find our travel money from the move deposited into our account on Monday! And it appears to be covered in full! It's seems during many moves each different entitlement comes in as different deposits.

The grand total is pretty grand and exceeds the costs we actually incurred, which I honestly never totaled up. Our second checking account is now $6,915.77 richer!

Our primary costs for moving were carpet repair and cleaning at our rental home....

cancelling amazon prime

November 28th, 2018 at 05:58 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

As I finished my holiday shopping and as I bought stuff in stores and other online merchants this year I confirmed we don't need amazon prime. I still bought some stuff from Amazon. But we certainly don't need the 2 day shipping. Nothing we ordered did we need rushed. And we no longer watch the TV shows for the kids downloaded on their kindles.

We do have kindles for them bought $50 last year. We do travel more. However now we have a DVD player in the minivan and we...

Crossing Off Goals

November 28th, 2018 at 03:09 PM by klarose

I have all my Christmas shopping done!

Husband's 401K is successfully moved over into one account now. Yay. One less thing to worry about.

My bathroom mirror also finally got fixed at the welder after a couple months, so I am calling the addition officially done! Well sort of. We still have closet doors and some trim in the hallway to do, but our master suite is finished which is good enough for me. Another goal off our list.

I am only $542 short of my debt payoff goal...

Not Much New Here

November 28th, 2018 at 03:57 AM by Lucky Robin

The diet is going well so far. Famous last words, though. It always goes well in the beginning. I've lost 5.6 pounds.

Yesterday I wrote 5664 words on the novel. That was two chapters, plus 882 words into the next chapter. The day before that I wrote one chapter of 2500 or so words. So after a 27 day stall I've put out 4 and 1/3 chapters.

I didn't spend any time on it today, mostly because my right wrist hurts, but I did spend a bunch of time watching writer videos on...

more accts or better books?

November 28th, 2018 at 02:03 AM by mumof2

I was just wondering when people are saving for things at the same time say a house deposit, car, college etc do you use seperate accounts to keep track of the amounts or do you just have them written down and update as you progress?

we already have 5 accounts for different things so not sure if I should open up another one or not...so figured I would see what others do and then decide...so let me know what works for you.

Checking In

November 27th, 2018 at 02:08 PM by Jazzy

I had to go back and look at my last few posts to see what I had and hadn't shared. Things have been a flurry of activity over here. While we are still waiting on official orders, it looks like DH will be deploying for a year. While it's unfortunate timing and our first long-term separation, I'm at peace with it after some adjusting. I have a really good support system in place here with my family and DH's as well as a few close friends, so I think it will be manageable. This puts...

Snow Day

November 27th, 2018 at 01:56 PM by CB in the City

We had snow yesterday, but not the amount predicted. However, I will have to clean off the car in a big way this morning when I go to the gym. I stayed in all day yesterday.

I've received all my mystery shop payments and I will have $96 to add to my variables next month (which starts tomorrow!) Plus I have $246 in Amazon credits for Christmas.

I haven't received my payment for poll work, but I looked it up, and it can take 4-6 weeks. It hasn't even been three weeks yet.

Since...

Day 184 - 6 months down

November 27th, 2018 at 08:40 AM by Tina

I bought more B12 from the pharmacy, nzd22.00.

DS has high cholesterol and is finally taking an interest in healthy eating. He has cut out red meat, but still wants to eat fish and chicken, is complaining about the amount of stem on broccoli and is asking me the best way to cook oatmeal. Small steps but promising. Considering the length of time it took me to finally become fully vegan I can't expect him to convert overnight. I am doing my best not to overwhelm him with vegan...

My English Castle

Hello, Hello

November 27th, 2018 at 02:01 AM by My English Castle

Oh man, it's been 21 days since I've posted?

Here's a short (?) summary:
We bought a new-to-us car. We'r big believers in quality used cars, and this one is a fancier, newer version of my wrecked car. I love it.

Shelling out the difference between the blue book value from the wrecked car and the cost of the new car has made things a bit tight around here. We paid cash, but I've emptied many a pot to find that cash.

The semester is over in 2 1/2 weeks.

We stayed...

Grandma passed away

November 26th, 2018 at 11:19 AM by Laura

My grandmother passed away Saturday morning (exactly six weeks after my mom, her daughter). I am sad, but it was time. I hope she can rest in peace now. The funeral is tomorrow and then I will finally go home. I have been gone since the 10th.

There were seven of us staying with grandma for the last week of her life. We ended up with four Thanksgiving dinners due to family and friends. I am sad it was my grandma's declining health that brought on the situation, but otherwise...

Day 183

November 26th, 2018 at 09:35 AM by Tina

Bought:
2 cans beets nz2.00
pasta .75

Our minister is a keen Labour Party supporter so tonight I was invited to a quiz nite fundraiser. I'm not all that interested in politics but it was a fun evening. Our team came third and our minister won 2 bottles of wine in the raffle so he was happy.

My jars are apparently working as intended; I paid for evening out of my Play jar and had a bowl of kumara chips (sweet potato fries). As it was virtually a donation I suppose I...
