Last Day!

November 14th, 2019 at 02:21 AM by Laura

Today was my last day at the bus company. So weird! Some people stopped by especially to say bye ... others not so much. Oh well. I got to say bye to those I really wanted to.

I *think* I left it to where the new supervisor and whoever is the new me will be able to be successful. The new supervisor has my email and permission to email me if needed.

Something seriously funny - I was on my afternoon break and had just finished my Lara bar when an important trick hit me that...

Good Living

The long slog

November 14th, 2019 at 12:39 AM by Good Living

April was when we realized we were going to sell our house and buy a new one. It took a lot out of us to sell a camper and a very old truck (1935) and then pack up everything to put the house on the market. The house was on the market just before July 4th and and after multiple offers, we accepted a bid. Inspection and then just a bit before close, it fell through. It was back on the market at the end of August and the close was September but it was canceled. Then it was back on...

Guess What?

November 13th, 2019 at 11:33 PM by Amber

Guess what? I may have an opportunity to pick up another consulting gig. It’s a smaller company, and I will be their virtual HR practitioner. Because it’s a smaller company, and I won’t have to go in, I’d charge $200 a month. I pray I get it. That would mean an extra $1,000 a month total.

Other news, I’ve told my sister to stop calling me about things that are on sale, well she called today about QVC’s special value, a Roomba 🙄🤦🏽‍♀️. I just told...

getting hearing aids

November 13th, 2019 at 07:07 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

I had another hearing test and it was determined it was borderline. So they suggested hearing aids. Because of my insurance covering it 100% I am rushing forward with it before it probably changes January 1st. Typical because who knows what is going to be covered. I am hoping to finish this by the end of the year.

I will admit it's a bit annoying that medical plans always change every year. That you only know what will be that year but next year who knows?

2 steps forward, 1 step back

November 13th, 2019 at 02:14 PM by Jazzy

I haven't touched my Google budget since before my son was born (late March). I've pretty much switched to YNAB full-time. While I'm really happy with the progress, I also still see a ton of leaks in our budget, but I'm having trouble buckling down to get there.

The Good:
- Paid off a bunch of debt!: Without looking at the details, I'd guess 4-5 credit cards and got off the float on the ones that I still do use.
- Will continue to pay off debt: Just made the final payment...

Woo Hoo!

November 13th, 2019 at 12:59 PM by CB in the City

My reimbursement was placed in my bank account yesterday -- $880. It almost feels like payday!

I had to go out yesterday and scrape my car and move it to the other side of the street. They are going to sweep leaves today. I don't know how successful they will be, as the leaves are frozen to the street and covered with snow. Oh well, their problem.

Since I've done the work of scraping the car I will get out and run errands today. I'll go to the gym, get a few groceries,...

November 13th, 2019 at 05:38 AM by mumof2

I am hoping that we will be debt free by the end of the year..that means we can save for a newer car and then a house deposit next year...I didn't reach my goals for this year but going to do a blog next year on saving for a house and car...maybe a $10,000 blog and $20,000 for a house...does anyone else do this to help them stay on track and be accountable?...I know everyone here are in different places with their debts and finances but does blogging make you stay more accountable??

Although...

Insurance Policy

November 13th, 2019 at 02:21 AM by GratefulSaver

I happened to check our car insurance policy to ensure that a car that was totaled was removed from our policy. The policy showed that we still owed over $500. Sure enough, it had not removed. My husband called and we now have a payment of just $149. I think we are going to try to be a one car family now that my husband is retiring in a couple of months. I work in town and if he needs the car, he'll just have to take to work and pick me up.

Saving, Budget and Poshmark

November 13th, 2019 at 01:10 AM by Amber

Took a look at the budget and I’m now able to bump my IRA contribution by an additional $25, it’s not much but hey it’s better than were I was, $0. This will bring the monthly contributions to $100.

I’ve also decided that any additional income, such as the consulting gig, I’ll take 10% of that earnings and add it to the IRA. The remaining will still go to the goal of savings six months of expenses for emergencies, once completed I’ll then tackling the CC and student...

Cleaning up the babies room and made free $20!

November 12th, 2019 at 09:14 PM by Banker Gurl

When I was pregnant last year with the twins my MIL sent me $100 to buy maternity clothes. I ordered a bunch of clothes from Kohls online and unfortunately they were delivered to our house while I was inpatient for my preterm labor. So when we got home the bag didn't even get opened, just thrown into the babies room and the door closed.

We have been trying to get some of their mementos and things organized and I finally made myself open the bag of maternity clothes. There...

Loan Updates

November 12th, 2019 at 06:42 PM by terri77

My TSP loan balance is now lower than my auto loan balance. The original amount of the TSP loan was more than the auto loan, but I am paying $250 every two weeks for the TSP loan & only $150 for the auto loan. The TSP loan will be paid off in approximately 20 pay checks. Once I'm no long paying $250 every two weeks towards my TSP loan I can add that $250 to the auto loan. Both interest rates are very low, so it may make more sense to put it towards the credit card debt, though...

Bitter Cold

November 12th, 2019 at 12:48 PM by CB in the City

It's really cold here this morning. The "feels like" temperature is below zero. I do not plan to go anywhere. And I don't think I will try to move my car until it gets warm enough to melt the snow and ice that's all over it. That's the beauty of being retired and I'm going to take advantage of it.

My BFF sent me home with some leftover chicken and broccoli from our weekend together. Yesterday I chopped it up and added it to frozen risotto with squash. It made a pretty...

Another Diagnosis

November 11th, 2019 at 11:58 PM by Lucky Robin

Well, for once this diagnosis is not for my daughter, it is for me. I have been officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia on top of my rheumatoid arthritis. So my compromised immune system is even more compromised than they thought. I have always felt my immune system was non-existent.

She's going to have me get an MRI on my hands to check for something. To be honest, I was having a hard time focusing on what she said because of how much pain I am in today and I also have a...

I'm Back & Debt Payments

November 11th, 2019 at 02:35 PM by klarose

I'm back from a goat show with my mom. We won $800 but after expenses and splitting the net profit I made $100. It is mostly for fun and also promoting/improving our herd so any profit is just a bonus.

My web design income from last month came in. I paid $562.50 on the construction loan so it's down to $4,000 and I paid $165 on the CC so it's down to $3,500. That surpasses my minimum monthly goal, so that is good news. I love seeing those round numbers!

Husband has in...

What a Weekend!

November 11th, 2019 at 01:41 PM by CB in the City

On Friday morning, I called my insurance company and got the news that the title was found and had been submitted. Then I went to the dealer and my registration was there. That freed me up to make my weekend trip to see BFF, so I got on the road and went!

So here is the bad news. While there, I backed into someone also backing up in a Target parking lot. I scratched up the rear bumper -- enough that it needs to be replaced but luckily it is a small corner bumper and not...
