December 3rd, 2019 at 06:31 PM by all4money

2019 is about to come to a close and I wanted to document what our current financial situation is at the moment. I am a bad "blogger" in that life gets in the way and I forget to jump on here very often...

Updates

December 3rd, 2019 at 02:27 PM by CB in the City

After updating my spreadsheet with the laundry I've done and buying gas, my variables are now at 40%.

Today I'm going to pay my wheel tax. Yes, I really will! While I'm there, I want to verify that if I load $75 onto my Brinks card (for discounted ground transportation) that I won't lose the unused portion at the end of the month. Wording on the website is unclear. Once I do that, I'll get the Uber app and link this card to it.

I am taking the boys to music lessons tonight....

Crisis in Indian economy

India economy is facing a bad era now a days , The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) estimated India's unemployment rate in 2017-18 to be 6.1%, which is over double that in 2011-12 when the unemployment rate was 2.7%. The labour force participation rate is also abysmally low at 37%.

2019 Financial Year In Review

December 3rd, 2019 at 11:55 AM by Trying to Get Ahead

Hello everyone! I met my goals of paying off my consumer debt and student loan this year. A few really good-paying projects from our side business was the key to help us get the debt paid off. Using the snowball method was also important to keep the momentum gong.

I must say what a relief it was because I became unemployed at the end of September. You can't put a price on peace of mind but for me, it was in the thousands of dollars. On a happier financial note, I accepted...

Christmas Shopping Etc.

December 2nd, 2019 at 07:54 PM by CB in the City

I did a bunch of Christmas shopping this morning on Amazon. It was $354, and I'm about half done. I didn't get any Cyber Monday deals; I was working from wish lists.

After doing laundry and cleaning up, I went to the Kia dealer to see if someone there could help me with the phone function. Someone did get it paired for me, and showed me the basics, but for some reason my contacts would not download. I'm going back next Monday for the 30,000-mile service, so we will revisit...

Computer Woes

December 2nd, 2019 at 04:39 PM by klarose

And just like that my computer is toast. :/ The computer I scrimped and saved for and then paid off early.

I knew this day was coming. It has been making some noises for a month or two now. (Of course about a month after my extended warranty wore off...) The computer is 4.5 years old and I use it for hours daily and have lots of programs and games.

Fortunately I can still get in it in safe mode so I was able to save my bookmarks, and documents. I had almost everything backed...

Smallsteps

back to work

December 2nd, 2019 at 02:33 PM by Smallsteps

so i had a long weekend off the check for this week will be sad but as this is just extra income I am OK.

I went to a dermatologist as I had a new odd growth looked like a mole had all the " signs" the articles etc tell you to look for irregular edges / rough texture/ changing color /itchy etc.
Took this DR 15 seconds to say "Nope, it is a common benign growth ( long weird name) that has zero chance of cancer"
I was relieved but also felt a bit silly. i told him that...

Shopping

December 2nd, 2019 at 07:26 AM by Lucky Robin

We went to WalMart tonight to pick up some outdoor Christmas decorations. MIL's treat. They didn't have much left. I guess when you start selling Christmas stuff before Halloween, expecting there to still be a decent selection on December 1st is too much?

We got icicle lights in blue and white for the house's gutter line and porch peak and some bush blanket nets, some candy canes, and 4 little decorations (a cardinal, an angel, a star, and a Santa face) that we can attach...

New Budget Spreadsheet

December 2nd, 2019 at 02:07 AM by Petunia 100

Here is a new spreadsheet I have been working on. As you can see, it is a bit more detailed than the one I have used in the past. It is basically showing a summary of every transaction in my checking account for the month of November 2019.

So it begins with an area labeled "Income" and colored yellow. "Income" is a bit too narrow of a description, as it also includes money transferred in from other accounts as well the beginning balance of my checking account, labeled "Buffer"....

Catching Up

December 1st, 2019 at 10:44 PM by DK62565

Not much to report overall. DH and I went on two day bus trips this week. Not exactly great planning on the travel agency's part, but they were things we wanted to do.

The first was to go to Joliet to the Jacob Henry Mansion. It is a Victorian home that has been kept up and there was a luncheon complete with Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln visiting. After a delightful meal (usually these aren't all that great, but this one was) the Lincolns talked about how Christmas was celebrated during...
