Embracing a Minimalistic Lifestyle

July 24th, 2022 at 12:29 PM by Amber

I spent quite a bit getting my house in order and you know what?  I don’t care.
I couldn’t figure out why I was depressed.

Why I wasn’t in any mood to do anything. Then I read a post/article, oh no it was a book about your space and how it could depress you.

Things in my home looked cluttered, messy, I felt unorganized, drained, exhausted for no reason.

Then I decided to hell with it, get this bedroom...

My summer month

July 23rd, 2022 at 09:19 PM by Dido

Sometimes things at work calm down for both July and August, but this year, August is getting pretty booked, so it looks as though July is basically my summer "down" time, and I'm really only realizing this as it is drawing to a close.
I do have several more PTO days I can take this year; just need to figure out a reasonable way to schedule them.  Generally taking a 3-day weekend (or expanding a 3-day weekend into 4 days) works best for R&R.  *Nothing*...

Still Decluttering

July 23rd, 2022 at 11:04 AM by Amber

After creating a clutter free clean space, I feel and slept great. The last few nights are the best nights I’ve slept in a long time. I finally got my bedroom cleaned and clutter free, Thursday I completed the walk-in closet. Today I’ll tackle my bathrooms and laundry room. I’m so ready to live a clutter free and clean lifestyle.

The painter is scheduled to come today to complete the hallway and guest bath. I’m feeling great about this,...

Lost & Found

July 22nd, 2022 at 06:31 PM by PatientSaver

Several months ago I lost my driver's license and could not find it. Finally, I spent $30 for a replacement license. Today I was doing laundry and guess what was plastered up against the glass door? My driver's license.
It was a load of towels with one pair of pants that I wear exclusively to do yard work. They are white and I wear them so I could easily spot a tick if one were to crawl on me. I never wear those pants anywhere, except.....i vaguely remember needing to pick something...

My English Castle

A Week Away

July 22nd, 2022 at 03:36 PM by My English Castle

I spent a lovely week away with friends in Northern Minnesota to celebrate my pending retirement as well as another friend's accomplished retirement.  We hiked a lot, had some lovely wine and cocktails and dinners, and best--spent some beautiful moments watching the moon rise over Lake Superior.  One of these women has been a friend since 2nd grade.  No friends like old friends.
I then headed toward home meeting some university friends in a town on the Mississippi...

Wow cannot believe I never entered my June update.
Hit all three goals for June.
Late in month to post July goals.  My steps have been down lately.
Went on my first job interview in over 11 years.  Did not get the job.  Will keep looking.

Pop Some Cyber Champagne with Me!

July 22nd, 2022 at 04:35 AM by Lucky Robin

DH had his performance review today and life suddenly got a whole lot easier.  His boss, his boss's boss, and the company president were all there for the review.  The company freaking president.  It was a massively glowing review.  DH probably could have been seen from space, it was so glowing.
Now, previously his boss had told him to expect something that would make him fall on the floor if he got what was put in for.  My response to that when DH told...

Got the interview!

July 21st, 2022 at 03:06 AM by Amber

I got the call for the fourth and final interview. I'm so excited. This job would be everything I need and want. Fingers crossed. The interview with the teaching gig went well. This would be a part time contract gig, I submitted my writing sample today. We will see how it goes.
I also sent over my proposal on a contract so fingers crossed on that one as well. I'm pretty sure I have that one.
In financial news I earned another $100 gift card,  tomorrow I'll...

Quick Update

July 20th, 2022 at 02:13 AM by Amber

Third interview went well. I’m super excited about the potential of joining a great company with great benefits and making a pivot in my career. Everyone I interviewed with was awesome!

In addition to my third interview, I also landed another freelance HR gig, I’m looking forward to tackling this project. It’s a small organization that need to put some policies and practices in place.

Tomorrow I have an interview with an organization...

Fresh Food

July 19th, 2022 at 08:16 PM by DK62565

Some of you have blogged about your gardens and I have as well. The tomatoes are really coming on and what a pleasure it is to enjoy them fresh from the garden. What a difference it is in taste. We are also getting some green onions as well as bell peppers and herbs.
Last year we did a half share of a CSA and we elected to do it again this year. Last week it was fresh green beans, onions, new potatoes, broccoli, corn, garlic, cabbage, and hot peppers. We gave the hot peppers away....

Vanity Update

July 19th, 2022 at 12:55 PM by Amber

My accountant finally completed my taxes, I’ll be meeting with him today to review, the amount owed is $2500. I like him and he’s great at what he does but he’s extremely slow and it drives me nuts.
I normally do my own but since I had the business I opted to let him do it.

Other news, I decided to paint my vanity, I’d been looking for one and thought hmm why? You have a perfectly good one, just clean it up and paint it. You know what?...

Still Getting Ready

July 18th, 2022 at 11:46 PM by CB in the City

One more little purchase for the trip. I bought MiraLax in packet form. I would hate to need it and not have it. The box of ten packets was $18.
On the way out of the store, I found two pennies on the floor. I have picked up almost $110 since I started keeping track.
I had it in my calendar that I was catching the train on Tuesday, but when I looked at my ticket I saw that I had it wrong. The train leaves on Wednesday. That gives me an extra day of prep. I'm almost ready. The...

my $600 botox shots

July 18th, 2022 at 07:44 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

I went to the dentist on Thursday my 3x/year cleaning.  I have very weak teeth and I'm a grinder.  Anyway I've worn nightguards since high school and I've broken multiple ones.  The currently I have an NTI and a regular traditional nightguard.  I can tell the difference wearing the NTI style nightguard.  Anyway my jaw joint if you can imagine is worn to nothing because of my clenching and grinding. I also probably this year started having some pain in my...

Odds and ends

July 17th, 2022 at 08:26 PM by PatientSaver

The India job is going so so. I'm not crazy about it, let's put it that way. The work itself is very tedious and repetitive. When I've asked specific questions about the job, since I'm still new, they take days to reply, if at all.  I'm still not clear on basics like when I can expect to get work, and just learned my hours are NOT 6-10 pm as I was told, but that I could actually do the work as soon as i get it, as long as i turn it in the next day. That's good, cus i was afraid...

Some July Updates

July 17th, 2022 at 06:00 PM by Wink

My July monthly spending so far is at $1086.06 with all of my usual bills paid, except my cell phone. My grocery spending so far is at $55.85. I will need to make one more shop, but just for a few things so I’m hoping to stay under $70 for the month.

Many years ago, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my neck. I manage it mostly with over-the-counter anti-inflammatory meds, stretching exercises every day, and using a heating pad when necessary....

MM Update

July 17th, 2022 at 01:21 PM by Monkey Mama

MM(19) update...
I dropped MM(19) off at work a few weeks ago and then I didn't see him again for a while.  They drove him out to a job site (close to home) and he got a ride home after that.  So much for our carpool.  He is mostly commuting to the job site.  They had told him he would mostly be in the office, but I now think they meant the construction office.  Which works out pretty well because it is such a short commute.  He's paying less for...

New Furniture and Opportunities

July 17th, 2022 at 12:11 PM by Amber

Checking in, it’s been a wild week.
Many of you know I’ve been saving to get new bedroom furniture, well every time I save the money, I threw it towards my student loans.

Well this time, I just couldn’t do it anymore. The drawers were falling apart, the headboard wasn’t attached to the bed, so it kept moving, some of the drawer bottom pieces were collapsing.

This set was given to me almost 13 years ago and the owner had...

budget restart 2022

July 17th, 2022 at 07:03 AM by mumof2

So I decided earlier this month that I would start a new budget..back to basics, redo everything and start over and get back on track...not only have we gone off the rails we have flipped several times and ended up god knows where with everything that has been going on...so today went back to basics.
for the rest of this year I will concentrate getting $2000 back  into our ice acct and paying off the dreaded CC these are my main 2 goals to achieve this year once that is done...
